As the leading carrier, we operate a fleet that transport aggregates, grain, fertilizer, coal, ores, alloys, steel products, chemicals, and other products.Job DescriptionIngram Barge Company is seeking a Barge Inspector to join our Barge Maintenance and Repair team. This Inspector role will primarily support our dry cargo and tank barge fleets and will be based in Reserve, LA.Barge Inspectors evaluate the condition of barges and schedule repairs with the corresponding repair facility; doing what it takes to get our equipment back on the river where it belongs! Your work ensures our barges are in top-notch condition and keeps our business humming along smoothly for a seamless customer experience. This is a role for those with a focus on customer service and do not mind getting their hands dirty in the process!What you will be doing:
Performing tank barge readiness checks to ensure barges are ready to load & discharge upon arrival to docks and terminals
Performing tank barge inspections as outlined under the USCG D8 Tank Barge Streamlined Inspection program
Coordinating repair of barges with our Logistics team and repair facilities
Updating our Logistics team with any changes in completion of repair schedule
Representing our organization with vendors, USCG, and occasionally to customers
Managing cost estimates within the Ingram purchase order system
Updating data bases and spreadsheets with daily activity
Expediting repairs in a timely manner ensuring quality of work while tracking costs
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5 years of tank barge maintenance experience strongly preferred
3 years of dry cargo repair and maintenance preferred
Prior experience serving as a USCG approved TBSIP Examiner preferred
Associates degree preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office
Ability to travel on short notice
Ability to work on-call, after business hours, and on weekends
What will also make you successful:
Tank barge repair experience
Prior participation in the USCG TBSIP Program
Knowledge of USCG federal regulations
Tankerman experience a plus
Working knowledge of pumps and engines
Metal fabrication and steel construction knowledge
Experience with fiberglass cover repair
Experience working in a team-orientated environment
Highly self-motivated and directed
