MQF Level 7 in scientific areas and 1 year relevant work OR MQF Level 6 in engineering or scientific areas and 3 years relevant work experience 6 years relevant work experience in the use of, or regulation of, ionising or non-ionising radiation.Jobsplus Permit: 427/2023 The Commission for the Protection from Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation is an equal opportunities employer Position: Radiation Officer Reporting to: Operations and Quality Manager Subordinates: n/a Purpose: To be involved in all regulatory aspects assigned to the Commission for the Protection from Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation Duration of Contract: Indefinite (Probationary period: First six (6) months) Duties and responsibilities i. Review documentation with respect to the use of sources of ionising radiation. ii. Perform inspections and compile relevant reports and follow-up actions. iii. Investigate accident and instances of breaches of the relevant regulations and draw up the necessary reports. iv. Take enforcement action, including issuing enforcement notices when required, follow-up as appropriate. v. Be aware of safety culture and follow the procedures and processes of the employer including the use of its management system. vi. Promotion of safety culture and radiation protection principles and subsidiary legislation with various stakeholders vii. Actively participate in the development of the management system policies and procedures. viii. Assist in the radioanalytical laboratory for environmental monitoring. ix. Assist in emergency procedures. x. To participate in any work assigned to the Commission with respect to the regulation of non-ionising radiation. xi. Collate, analyze data and carry out research as directed by the employer, with regards to radiological exposures, environment and on matters ancillary to radiation protection. xii. Participate in professional and personal development initiatives as directed by the Employer. xiii. Perform office administrative tasks as directed. xiv. Drive a service vehicle as and when required. xv. Be prepared for overseas training and to represent the employer at international meetings. xvi. Execute any other duties as might be requested, from time to time. Pre-requisites • Ability to demonstrate strong personal and interpersonal skills • The ability to interpret legislation and to understand and an understanding of safety culture • Proficiency in computer use of MS office applications • In possession of a valid driving license in respect of Category B • Previous experience of regulatory activities or data management would be an asset • Previous experience of working with radiation would be an asset but full training will be provided Qualifications and experience required Masters qualification at MQF Level 7 in scientific areas, plus one (1) year relevant work experience in the use of, or regulation of, ionising or non-ionising radiation ; Or Bachelors qualification at MQF Level 6 in engineering or scientific areas, plus three (3) years relevant work experience in the use of, or regulation of, ionising or non-ionising radiation ; Or Other suitable qualification with six (6) years relevant work experience in the use of, or regulation of, ionising or non-ionising radiation Proposed Financial Package Basic : €28,857 Allowances(per annum): 1) All inclusive car allowance €2000, 2) Communication allowance €800 and 3) Performance bonus up to 5% Interested applicants are requested to submit their CVs and a true copy of their qualifications by not later than 24th May 2024 to paul.brejza@gov.mtProfilesIf multiple Education and Language Profiles are defined, please note that you must fit at least one of them, but not necessarily all.CompetenciesThis vacancy does not require any CompetenciesPast ExperienceOccupationExperience(months)INSPECTOR, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT36Driving LicencesNo Driving Licenses required for this vacancyApplyPlease be aware that you will be submitting the Application as and that your CV will be part of your application.
