- Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor “No Injuries Safety Contract” and as trained. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and leads. Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.
- Plan the daily function of the Quality and Process Department with support of the Quality Technicians and Process Engineer.
- Expert at the plant level on Process Control and related product characteristics and process performance.
- Assists in drafting and implementing Product, Process and Equipment Validations/Qualifications.
- Coordinates with the Quality Manager to provide leadership for company, regional, and plant initiatives.
- Prepare, review, and evaluate data and information and report recommendations for use by plant management to the Quality Manager.
- Utilize quality techniques to reduce process variations or refine process parameters based upon results.
- Assist in problem solving through use of statistical analysis and utilization of quality tools. Lead and promote problem solving teams to perform root cause analysis and failure investigations. Assist in tracking and trending of corrective and preventative actions to ensure items are closed out on a timely basis.
- Serves as a contact with customers in the event of CINS (Customer Incidents), leads internal product performance investigation, and implements corrective and preventative actions with support of the Quality Manager.
- Provides consistent ongoing analysis of process capability (CPK) statistics. Determine, recommend, and assist in continuous improvement programs to meet plant/division quality objective and advise the plant manager of appropriate action plans. Suggest improvements in procedures and techniques to improve product and customer acceptance.
- Alert management of potential quality problems to assure that defective product or raw materials are not used or shipped to the customer.
- Establishes, monitors, and maintains statistical process control (SPC) programs; advises and instructs local managers in utilization of SPC data.
- Ensure all testing requirements are met per corporate standards.
- Maintains access to the Amcor corporate database that houses customer specifications and our established guidelines for achieving those requirements related to product safety, quality, legality, process and specification (Windchill and RealSPC or corporate approved equivalent software applications).
- Act as plant resource to standardize formal investigations through process evaluation, template development and training with focus of training operators on quality and process expectations.
- Develop and assist with development of standard operating procedures, work instructions and form control documents.
- Demonstrates organizational ability to complete daily assignments as required to meet internal and external customer requirements in a concise detailed manner.
- Lead customer complaint investigations and vendor incident notifications.
- Maintain product safety and compliance documentation. Responsible for the upkeep of records and documents that correspond to regulatory, customer, and third party audit requirements.
- Perform containments; evaluate quality, visit customers and vendors as needed.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement activities at the plant level.
- Performs other related duties as directed by Plant Manager or Quality Manager.
- Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety.
- Recommend staff stop production for unacceptable quality.
- Recommend staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies.
- Contact any member of management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment.
- Travel 15%
- Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Engineering, Mathematics or related field strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of previous quality assurance or manufacturing work experience is required.
- Professional accreditation by ASQ in CQE, CQT, or CQMOE, is preferred.
- Experience with plastics and/or packaging or other high speed, high volume conversion processes in the production environment is preferred.
- Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office, Statistical Analysis, Process/Product Control and Designed Experimentation software tools.
- Must be self-starting, self-motivated personality type, able to work independently
