:JOB PURPOSE:Lead and participate in the duties of the firefighting and rescue team. Inspect, test and maintain fire and safety protection systems/equipment and lifesaving appliances. Perform Safety audits & fire watch activities and ensure compliance with the safety requirements during normal & critical activities. Lead a team of Technicians in performing the required maintenance for site’s lifesaving equipmentOther: As per DOA Act as UZ-HSE Fire & Safety Supervisor during his absence in order to facilitate on his behalf ongoing routine activities without involvement in critical decisions with long-term effects.Job Specific Accountabilities Participate in/lead a team engaged in rescue/firefighting/emergency activities with the proper use of fire, safety and lifesaving equipment/systems. Perform preventive maintenance on the various types of fire, safety and lifesaving equipment which includes complete checks, servicing, repairing and supervising contracted assistants while undertaking maintenance work. Lead & Participate in regular firefighting/emergency drills and practical training / Emergency Team Members on the proper use of the fixed, portable and mobile firefighting equipment and systems. Provide guidance of fire, safety and Rescue to the On-Scene-Commander. Conduct periodical inspection on fixed extinguishing systems (NOVEC, Halon, CO2, deluges, sprinklers, water, foam and dry powder), inspect, test and maintain fire hoses, hydrants, monitors, isolation valves and couplings. Ensure all the safety conditions and requirements are implemented. Leads the Emergency Team during his rotation on barge. Perform inspection and basic maintenance and ensure availability of the safety equipment; breathing apparatus, escape sets, portable gas monitors, safety harnesses and protective personal equipment. Operate and test lifesaving equipment such as lifeboats & life rafts in addition to their basic maintenance. Act, when required, as a lifeboat coxswain for evacuation of personnel during emergencies/drills. Ensure all safety requirements & conditions are implemented prior and during hot works and critical / risky activities such as hot works on live equipment / pipelines, vessel entries, pigging operations, structure repairs, plant modification, etc. Conducts gas tests (combustibles, toxic & O2) to ensure gas free conditions are maintained during hot works / vessel entries Assist in practical training on the use of fire, safety & lifesaving equipment & prepare the breathing apparatus / escape sets ready for training & use. Assists UAE Nationals to follow their training program. Carry out other or similar related duties as directed by Fire and Safety Supervisor in addition to maintaining the fire and safety workshop and stores. Carry out administrative duties such as filling pre-designed forms and reports on fire/safety equipment maintenance, inspection, testing and inventory. Conduct other duties as directed by the Team Leader & Supervisor.Emergency Response Duties:o A member of site/facility Emergency Response Team by default of Job Description, and employment contract.o Act as a Fire Chief, managing the control and duties of the Emergency Fire & Rescue Team.o Responsible for training and preparedness of the Emergency Fire & Rescue team in every respective offshore emergency related scenarios (Fire, Rescue, Evacuation, First aid, oil spill management, Managing helicopter crashes, Sea survival, and more as deeming necessary).o Report to Tactical Response Team Leader and cooperate during Emergency drills / exercises with On Scene Commander, Operation Section Chief and Safety Engineer).o This Emergency Response responsibility is an integral part of this Job description and performance for set Emergency Assignments shall be considered a Key Performance Indicator for periodic assessments.o Use sound judgment whilst performing job watch and work permit activities and make instant decisions when first member at a fire or emergency. Such decision would however, be limited to those sanctioned in detail written emergency procedures, which are usually checked at interim stages of assignment by the fire and safety hierarchy.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:Minimum Qualification Completion of Secondary technical education (12 years) or equivalent, plus Safety specialized diploma (2 years) or higher.Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills 8~10 years practical experience in operation and maintenance of fire management and lifesaving activities in offshore oil/gas production or oil marine tankers companies’ using modern firefighting/lifesaving methods and all related equipment & gas detection, oil spills, dynamic firefighting assessments and, training of emergency response teams on basic entitlements linked to this post English language proficiency.Professional Certifications NEBOSH (Oil & Gas).TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Gas tester level 1,2,3 (OPITO) Offshore team Leader Offshore team member Life boat Coxswain (OPITO) Hot BA training.
