Job OverviewThis announcement will be accepting candidate submission to 04/26/2024Join the 711th Human Performance Wing within the Air Force Research Laboratory at the forefront of biotechnological innovation, where your leadership will be instrumental in research that optimizes the health and performance of our Air Force and Space Force warfighters.Position Duties include; but are not limited to:Research Leadership and Management:
  • Oversee the overall research direction, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Develop comprehensive research strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with the Air Force Research Laboratory's objectives.
  • Manage a range of complex research projects, coordinating with various teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
Lead a team of skilled researchers, scientists, engineers, and support staff, creating an environment that encourages growth and collaboration.
  • Design and implement professional development programs, including training and workshops.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and adaptability.
Budget and Resource Management:
  • Provide inputs to program managers for the budget for your core research area, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of funds.
  • Oversee resource distribution, including personnel assignments, equipment usage, and material procurement.
  • Actively pursue additional funding sources to expand and enrich research capabilities.
Communication and Reporting:
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed, comprehensive reports and presentations, showcasing research progress and insights.
  • Represent the organization in various forums, sharing knowledge and promoting collaborations.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all research adheres to the highest standards of legal, ethical, and safety compliance.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance protocols, guaranteeing the integrity of research outputs.
Innovation and Development:
  • Encourage a spirit of innovation within the team, promoting novel approaches and methodologies.
  • Keep the team updated on the latest industry trends and technological advancements to inform research strategies.

  • Flexible Length and Renewable Term Technical Appointments. This appointment type is used to appoint individuals who are not currently DoD civilian employees into any scientific, technical, engineering, and mathematic positions, including technicians, for a period of more than one year but not more than five years.

  • These are Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) positions, and require a Level 2 certification (Practitioner). The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or waiver must be obtained.

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to DR-02 in the Federal service or equivalent in an alternate pay system.
