Director, District Administration and Support Staff, Assistant SuperintendentOvertime status:Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulationsJob purpose:In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the JROTC Instructor is to provide leadership in the ongoing development of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp Program and to motivate students to be better citizens. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Duties and responsibilities:Department chairperson and chief instructorSupervise JROTC program at each to insure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelinesManage county and federal funds for the JROTC ProgramPerform the duties of liaison to the Director of Army Instruction for the JROTC ProgramSuccessfully integrates the Classroom Performance System within classroom instruction and has knowledge of curriculum planning, Army educational programs, drill and ceremonies and education administration, including tests and measurementsRecruits JROTC membersCollaborates with the principals regarding the JROTC program and parents of the membersLead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committeesAssume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and to maintain any credits and/or continued education for maintenance of licensure/qualifications required for the positionMaintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable useUndergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy proceduresMaintain confidentialityRegular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this positionPerform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policyRead, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of ConductQualifications:Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or hold SAI position; AI’s must have an Associate’s Degree within five years after their initial hiringCertification: Must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9 (AI), W-1 through W-5 (AI or SAI), and 0-3 through 0-6 (SAI). Not be retired more than three years (for initial employment) and must receive retirement payOther Requirements: General knowledge of course subject matter; demonstrate instructional ability; demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and influence young men and women to learn and develop leadership, self-reliance and discipline, responsiveness to constituted authority, and attributes of good citizenship and patriotismHave met JROTC Pre-Instructor Qualifications through U.S. Army Cadet Command.
