Position Overview: The Certified Engineering Geologist will be responsible for providing professional geologic expertise to both public and private entities. They will be responsible for the identification, analysis and evaluation of subsurface and surface geologic conditions and processes. They will use their knowledge of geology, soils, and groundwater to evaluate geologic hazards, soil stability, and groundwater movement.Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform geologic, hydrologic, and geotechnical investigations
  • Develop and evaluate plans, designs and other activities related to geologic considerations
  • Gather, analyze and interpret subsurface information for use in reports and other documents
  • Document site activities and prepare written reports
  • Conduct laboratory and field tests to assess soil type classification and subsurface mapping
  • Conduct seismic risk assessments, geological hazard assessments and quality control
  • Report findings and recommendations to clients and other stakeholders
  • Provide project management and client meeting support
  • Comply with safety rules, regulations, guidelines and standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering geology, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in geology, engineering geology, environmental geology, hydrology, or related field
  • Certified Engineering Geologist licensing in the state or jurisdiction where the project(s) are located (CA preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of industry standard software programs
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
