Following the IPS model, you focus on matching individuals with jobs in the community. Because employment is essential for some individuals to be able to work towards other goals, that is always your priority.You also work with local employers to discover how our participants can help meet the needs of the business. A majority of your time is spent out in the community instead of in the office. Conscientiously, you monitor and evaluate each client's progress towards their employment goal. Additionally, you work with your team help to provide resources, case management, and skills training to ensure the client has the best possible outcome. Making a difference one life at a time fills you with a deep sense of satisfaction, which is why you're perfect in this social services role!QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EMPLOYMENT SPECIALISTThis position will meet one or more of the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mental health, social services, or a related field, plus one year of experience relating to or assisting individuals with mental illness
  • Certification as a qualified mental health associate through the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon
  • Lived experience plus a combination of two years of employment, education, or volunteer work
Additionally, candidates are required to fulfill requirements set by Laurel Hill Center, including:
  • Experience working with transitional-age youth and/or adults
  • Experience providing employment services
  • Valid Oregon driver's license
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening upon hire
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19
