Responsible for the complete purchasing function for Daifuku Automotive America Corporation including negotiation on both small and major projects, budget control and cost reducing, supplier development and evaluation, implementation of purchasing policies and procedures, cost table development, quality and delivery improvement of the suppliers, inventory reduction, estimating for future projects, data entry control of the purchasing function, invoice reconciliation, preparation of bid/quote requests for both small and major projects, participate in make/buy decisions for the company, purchasing liaison for service/installation, engineering and sales team.Other responsibilities
- Approves the choice vendors and authorizes purchase orders based on business needs
- Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers
- Estimates fabricated, mechanical, and electrical components for entire organization
- Executes cost improvement and material price control activities and assigned material
- Supports manufacturing on all purchased, subcontracted and outsourced parts
- Liaison at all levels between corporate, estimating, engineering, jobsites, remote offices, and service/spare parts
- Develop specific annual purchasing objectives for assigned areas including cost reduction and quality improvement
- Prepares detailed cost tables to justify bidding, outsourcing and budgetary goals and documentation to support budgetary and estimating requirements
- Evaluate and present history of items to warrant stocking inventory
- Supervision of entire DAC corporate purchasing staff
- Minimum of 10 years related experience
- Manufacturing experience preferred in material handling and automotive environment
- AutoCAD a plus
- Extensive experience in implementing strategic sourcing leading practices or the ability to demonstrate equivalent job performance
- Strategic thinking, results-based change management, results- based negotiations, ability to identify and achieve cost savings targets and budget control and strong presentation capabilities are all required

- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business or equivalent experience. Mechanical Engineering Background a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer literacy a requirement (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Purchasing type MRP system (Syteline) knowledge
- Effective analytical, problem solving and decision making skills, strong organization, multi-tasking and follow-up, detailed and accuracy oriented
- Proven negation and research skills
