- Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
- Coordinates engineering or construction problems with superintendents.
- Interprets design engineering drawings and prepares construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required, including Temporary construction facilities, Field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing "as built" drawings.
- Reviews design drawings, study Interference problems and reviewing related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
- Prepares or directs preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials. Track commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.
- Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.
- Prepares projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
- Prepares field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices.
- Prepares assigned Project Controls programs. Reviews project controls documents on progress.
- Assures the project controls programs are fully automated for use in the field.
- Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.
- Maintains records of costs and quantity information, evaluates data, prepares applicable reports as requested by project management utilizing established, standardized automation tools.
- Administers change notices and amendments audits contractor requests for progress payments.
- May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.
- Creates and completes inspection records as required for construction progress and turnover.
- Assists with design quantity verification and proper package allocation for mechanical scope.
- Level 1: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar and 1+ year of experience or 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree.
- Level 2: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar and 3+ years of experience or 9+ years related experience in lieu of degree.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to work site.
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk downs that may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
- Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required.
- Candidates should be self-starters, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
- The candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as UPC, IBC, SMACNA, ASME, NFPA as well as NQA-1 requirements.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.
- Recent Bechtel experience as Mechanical/Piping Field Engineer at a large EPC Project
- Previous experience working on a large EPC project for the Department of Energy (DOE)
- Previous experience NQA-1 Piping (small bore) and Specialized Mechanical Equipment (Glove Boxes, equipment skids, multi-discipline pipe racks)
- Previous experience using Teamworks or Pipe Fighter Application/Tools (Bechtel)
