- Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
- Regularly travels throughout assigned territory with outside Sales Representative to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
- Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
- Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
- Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
- Tracks stock levels.
- Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
- Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
- Attends trade shows.
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related selling experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior building materials industry experience preferred.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions as needed.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and respond to requests for service and assistance.

- Knowledge of order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to travel up to 20%.
