Do you believe in our calling as Christians to welcome the least of these and love our neighbor?If you answered 'yes', to any of the above, World Relief, and millions of people around the world need you.World Relief seeks a Kinders Camp Assistant responsible for assisting in the classroom, supporting camp teachers as they implement curriculum and lead activities, as well as working with individual students and helping complete and maintain necessary paperwork. \nRole & Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to summer camp teachers including classroom set-up and clean up, and assisting with games and other activities planned by the teacher
  • Provide classroom supervision whenever teachers' need to be away from the class
  • Assist with behavior standards and positive supports for children and parents/caregivers, support with any parent communications needed
  • Lead simple activities such as recess sports and time-filler games
  • Assist in facilitating outdoor activities and field trips
  • Help collect materials/equipment needed to support planned activities
  • Build rapport with each student in the class, carefully ensuring every individual receives equal, unbiased care
  • Support specific students who may need additional care, by spending 1:1 time walking them through the day, providing co-regulation, and helping them participate in projects and activities
  • Assist the teacher in providing guidance to volunteers, parents, and other adults supporting the program
  • Pro-actively communicate with teachers and other team members or the Supervisor on any issues or needs as they arise
  • Support with any transportation needs of families including driving them to and from the camp.
  • Support in administering assessments, and other data and reporting tasks, including completing or compiling day-to-day paperwork.
  • Maintain clean and orderly classroom spaces, play areas, and supplies' areas.
  • Steward learning materials and camp host facility carefully.
  • Actively participate in all team and camp meetings
  • Comply with all agency policies and protocols
  • Other related tasks as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle or organize multiple tasks at one time
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environment
  • Individuals with lived immigrant experience encouraged to apply.
  • Bilingual in: Dari, Ukrainian, Swahili, Arabic, and Spanish
Requirements
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • At least 1-2 years of formal experience working with young children in an early learning program, ideally English language learners
  • AA or two years of college in a related field preferred (i.e., education, child development, school counseling, TESOL)
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification and King County Food Worker Card
  • Valid Driver's License and passing motor vehicle check, regular access to vehicle, and ability to drive families/children.
