This Includes the collaboration and implementation of sustainable waste programs to align with helping people live the healthiest lives possible.ScopeResponsible to manage daily waste escalations for designated facilities; municipal solid waste, recycling, regulated medical waste, confidential document, and pharmaceutical waste.Core responsibilities of this role include:
- Proactively interact with internal customers, vendors, and municipalities to optimize compliance, operations, and contract performance
- Manage hauler relationships, service frequency, invoicing, and data to meet organization goals
- Travel and audit facilities waste containers for sustainability and compliance of the waste stream program
- Collaborate with Environmental Service leaders for opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle
- Supports facility development, standardization, best practices, and implementation of waste programs
- Coordinates projects and programs that promote safety, collaboration, and teamwork among employees and stakeholders
- Educate and answer employees waste related questions and concerns as the subject matter expert
- 3 years of healthcare environment or waste related experience
- Demonstrated strong communication, emotional intelligence, and the ability to apply influencing practices across a varying range of personnel
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly Federal, State, and local waste laws
- Proven ability to multi-task and manage both small and large-scale project management projects
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet and email
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter with proven experience in problem solving
- Proven organizational skills including the ability to be detail-oriented
- Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including superior customer service skills
- Ability to travel throughout the Intermountain system as needed
- Ability to use personal phone continuously for work purposes
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5-10 years waste management experience
- Ability to understand a waste invoice, measure volume, and recommend reduction opportunities from analogy
- Subject matter expert of healthcare waste streams and operations
- Strong knowledge of USDOT, NIOSH, OSHA, and Joint Commission regulations related to waste and/or healthcare
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
