If you are motivated and believe in the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People," join our team!PURPOSE:Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Model Risk Management program within SECU through the development and validation of statistical models, qualitative models, and models developed with other quantitative algorithms.DUTIES:Responsible for executing model validation activities across the model life-cycle including model validations, ongoing performance evaluation, and tracking model findings to ensure models across SECU are conceptually sound relative to their intended use and performing appropriately.Validate the performance and controls of models using provided model development documentation and communications with model developers.Document and present findings to management and model owners.Provide input to model risk management framework, including maintaining model inventory and model risk rankings.Develop and maintain effective partnerships within SECU, particularly with model owners, model developers and data analysts.Assist in implementation of and adherence to the MRM Policy and associated model risk activity SOPs across SECU.Mentor/coach other model risk management staff.Represent SECU Model Risk Management in interactions with regulatory agencies and on SECU management committees.REQUIREMENTS:Degree in finance, economics, statistics or related field, Advanced Degree/PhD preferred.5-8 years of relevant model development or model validation experience; preferably in financial services or consulting industry.Ability to assess model conceptual design, back-testing of model results, assumptions, controls over data flows, model execution, and compliance of model results with intended application by model users.Advanced programming skills in a statistical programming language, such as SAS, R, or Python, preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Function independently with little direct supervision.Prioritize multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing demands.Dedication to SECU Philosophy and Work Ethic.Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager.JOB ENVIRONMENT:Office setting with physical proximity to other employees.Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.Must be able to comprehend phone calls.Must be able to lift 5 pounds.SECU provides equal employment opportunity to all qualified persons regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or other classification protected by law.DisclaimerState Employees' Credit Union reserves the right to fill this role at a higher/lower level based on business need.
