Collier County Managing EditorPosition Overview:WINK News is seeking a highly skilled Managing Editor with a focus on Collier County. In this role, you will be based in our main newsroom in Lee County but will have a special emphasis on overseeing news, events and philanthropic activity in Collier County. As the Managing Editor for Collier County, you will play a critical role in leading and ensuring high-quality news coverage, while being well-connected and knowledgeable about all things related to Collier County. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to news and provide comprehensive coverage for our viewers in Collier County while being part of our dedicated team in Lee County. Note: The candidate for the Managing Editor position will be required to travel to Collier County for in-person coverage, including attending meetings and gatherings of stakeholders.Responsibilities:1. Editorial Leadership:- Plan, organize, and supervise daily news coverage in Collier County.- Maintain a strong focus on news, events and philanthropy specific to Collier County.- Collaborate with reporters, producers, and anchors to develop compelling story ideas and assign coverage related to Collier County.- Generate original story ideas and conduct original reporting beyond daybook items.2. Newsroom Coordination and External Relations:- Coordinate with the news team in Lee County to ensure seamless coverage of Collier County news.- Develop contacts and sources to provide timely and relevant news content specific to Collier County.- Stay informed about local issues, events, and trends in Collier County to provide in-depth and impactful coverage.- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, and news sources specific to Collier County.3. In-Person Coverage:- Attend and report on Collier County meetings, events, and gatherings of stakeholders in person.- Establish a strong presence in the Collier County community by actively engaging with local residents, organizations, and leaders.- Conduct interviews and gather firsthand information to enhance news coverage and provide a comprehensive understanding of Collier County's issues and developments.4. Quality Control:- Maintain high journalistic standards, accuracy, and integrity in all news reporting related to Collier County.- Provide guidance and support to reporters and photographers assigned to Collier County-specific coverage.5. Digital and Social Media Contribution:- Develop and execute strategies to maximize digital and social media engagement for Collier County news content.- Monitor digital and social media trends, tools, and platforms to stay up-to-date with best practices and implement innovative approaches to storytelling.- Collaborate with the digital and social media teams to ensure cohesive and effective distribution of Collier County news across all digital platforms.Qualifications and Skills:- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred but not required.- Extensive experience in broadcast journalism, with a proven track record of editorial leadership.- Strong understanding of journalistic ethics, standards, and practices.- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.- Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment and meet tight deadlines.- Ability to develop a familiarity with Collier County, including its communities, issues, and key stakeholders.- Leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team and foster collaboration.- Flexibility to travel and cover stories in Collier County as needed.Location: Based in the main newsroom in Lee County, with a specific focus on Collier County coverage.Join our dedicated team and make an impact as the Managing Editor for Collier County, bringing in-depth coverage and exceptional news content to our viewers in Collier County.Benefits:
