The Administrative Support Specialist is a position in the Research Data Management Core (RDMC) unit that provides support for research and development project planning, organization, and coordination to ensure efficient and on-time completion of project deliverables for the UNC Dataverse data repository project, including support for the Global Dataverse Community Consortium (GDCC) program. Reporting to the RDMC Director and PI for the GDCC program, this position is closely involved in the implementation and monitoring of UNC Dataverse project goals and activities as well as the overall strategic plan of the RDMC in coordination with partnering campus units in order to support a unified, campus-wide ecosystem of research data management and sharing infrastructure and services to ensure compliance with funding agency policies and to promote the goals of those policies.The Administrative Support Specialist has experience working in a research-intensive university setting that requires an understanding of research processes and relevant policies that inform the daily activities of research units. They possess knowledge of university protocols (e.g., IRB, pre-/post-award, etc.) to coordinate these activities and provide appropriate guidance to facilitate policy compliance and successful project completion. They also have some awareness of trends in research practices, scientific publication, funding agency and institutional policies, and information technology requirements that may affect RDMC strategic plans and goals related to the UNC Dataverse project.The primary purpose of this position is to:
1) Coordinate UNC Dataverse project and service activities among RDMC staff and campus partners to support adherence to project timelines and on-time delivery of products and services.
2) Maintain membership for the Global Dataverse Community Consortium (GDCC) program to ensure active community engagement and participation.
3) Serve as the primary consultant on UNC policies and protocols for project leads and collaborators to ensure that workflows and procedures are executed accordingly.
4) Disseminate outreach and marketing materials to RDMC stakeholders and other targeted audiences using various multimedia platforms.
5) Engage in training and professional development opportunities to keep pace with trends in Dataverse and data repository technologies, and research administration practices and policies.

Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience- Demonstrated expertise in use of business software applications including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of university protocols and policies relevant to research project management including IRB review, sponsored research pre- and post-award processes, human resources guidance, and budget and finance policies.
- Ability to effectively communicate with audiences of various backgrounds and professional levels including university administrators, faculty researchers, students, and other research stakeholders.
- Experience working in a university setting.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience- Familiarity with UNC Dataverse as a trustworthy digital repository for research data archiving and sharing.
- Experience supporting sponsored research projects in a project management or coordinator role.
- Experience using university software applications including Concur, PeopleAdmin, and Time Information Management (TIM) systems.
- Awareness of trends in research practices, scientific publication, and funding agency and institutional policies that may impact research program coordination requirements.
