  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard four year high school
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Prefer a minimum of two years of Respiratory Therapist experience
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: A valid California driver's license when travel is required
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Current NRP and PALS certification
  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Licensed by the State of California as a Respiratory Therapist
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to relate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital/home health staff in a courteous, professional manner
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Able to organize and monitor the work of others
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Analytical and diagnostic ability capable of interpreting physician's orders for respiratory therapy patients and developing an effective treatment plan as needed

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (b): This job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally pull, lift, transfer, or push a patient side to side, to a sitting position, to a standing position, or laterally. The employee must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor.
  • POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS: Category 1 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Requires the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve an inherent potential for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them. Protective measures should be used while engaged in Category 1 tasks with exposure potential.)
Job RolesRespiratory Care Practitioner (AHCL)
  • Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Cleans and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment as needed. Handles emergency situations. Responds to all Code Blues and performs the duties of Resuscitator.
  • Keeps accurate records of all medical treatments. Keeps up with all paperwork, computer charting, order entry, patient evaluations, and multidisciplinary patient plans.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Performs a specific safety check of premises when requested by management. Prepares department for next shifts work.
  • Responds to C-Sections and High risk deliveries in women's care and operating room.
  • Sets up all respiratory therapy equipment, including, but not limited to, continuous nebulizers, Oxygen hoods, ventilators, oxygen devices, suction, hand held nebulizers, Aquanox high flow device, CPAP/BiPAP machines, percussion devices and draws, analyzes and verifies ABGs according to orders received from the physician.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
