Job ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose:Performs skilled duties of moderate difficulty in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment to include routine cleaning and grounds maintenance duties for the Beaufort, New River, and Hampton campuses.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Performs routine preventative maintenance and repair tasks on a regular schedule to include, but not limited to grounds keeping equipment, electrical fixtures, such as ceiling fans, changing filters, belts, repairing electrical switches, receptacles, light motors, painting, masonry etc. Perform various administrative functions such as completion of logs and historical records, Monitor and fulfill maintenance work order requests.
  • Performs general construction repair & maintenance duties to include, but not limited to; building forms, repairing and painting walls, doors, windows; paneling and drywall installation; makes repairs to shingle roofs, flat roofs, metal roofs, siding, soffit, trim, ceiling, drop ceiling, ect.
  • Performs general plumbing duties to include but not limited to; clean/clearing drains, sinks, sewer lines, toilets; installation of toilets, sinks, faucets, urinals, etc.
  • Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on school vehicles and gas/diesel powered equipment.
  • Performs grounds keeping duties to include, but not limited to; operating gas-powered mowers, trimmers, and edger in keeping lawns mowed, walks/curbs trimmed and edged, trimming/pruning shrubbery, maintaining flowerbeds, maintaining and cleaning road/parking lots. Performing minor repairs and maintenance to equipment and tools.
  • At times performs the following: Assist other trades specialist in their duties, moves office furniture, and arranges conference rooms and meeting areas as needed for various meetings and conferences. Performs various domestic cleaning duties to include but not limited to, cleaning and stocking of restrooms. Performs all other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor. Respond to emergency calls after normal working hours and/or be available to work as support service for college activities such as graduation and other college hosted events outside of normal work schedule.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsFormal training or trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment.Preferred QualificationsPreferred: A high school diploma and two (2) years directly related work experience; or 10th grade education and four (4) years directly related work experience.Experience in plumbing.Additional CommentsThe Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks to be the first choice for higher education in South Carolina's Low Country Region.
