The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods for complex metal manufacturing processes, such as casting, rolling, annealing, and slitting or fabrication of copper, brass, and other metal. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.ResponsibilitiesProcess Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Execution, evaluation, and control of optimizations (process, product, machine, equipment etc.) Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions to support flow of product.
  • Responsible for planning trials, execution of trial and, evaluation and reporting of conclusions/recommendations.
  • Responsible for driving a quality culture via implementation of process management principles by actively identifying critical process parameters and their impact to product. Develop and refine reaction plans.
  • Identify and implement activities that help drive budgeted excess scrap reductions to achieve yield objectives. This includes review of data, understanding of impact areas and actions to support.
  • Support Quality needs via the following. A) Design, implement and guarantee standards. B) Develop, create, implement, and monitor work and process instructions and inspection characteristics. C) Support claim review as needed and ensure corrective actions D) management of non-conforming material.
  • Utilization and coaching of statistical analysis for data driven problem solving. Facilitate and coach tools such as Fishbone Diagrams, 5Why, FMEA, etc. Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel to support root cause analysis investigations to address quality and process problems.
Process Engineer Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical/Material Science, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
  • 2-7 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Strong metallurgical understanding of metal (mechanical properties, crystalline structure, etc.)
  • Experience in manufacturing operations (cold rolling, annealing, leveling, slitting, and packaging) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and quality concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to concisely communicate (verbal and written) technical information and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong skill set in ISO 9001 requirements is preferred.
  • Six sigma green belt certification preferred.
