SummaryThis position performs work involving the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data. This includes maintenance of appropriate accounts, ledgers, journals, registers, and other financial records, reconciliation of various financial statements and documents, and the preparation of routine or standard reports concerning financial operations and data.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze journal entries and deposit warrants to determine accuracy;
  • Prepares journal entries to correct discrepancies and records journal entries into financial system
  • Communicate with offices throughout county to resolve discrepancies;
  • Downloads user reports and extract information for the preparation of various reports
  • Tracks and analyzes State Legislation to update any changes to County Cashiering System
  • Uses spreadsheet software to update and create reports
  • Analyzes receipts for proper classification on deposit warrants
  • Prepares and codes deposit warrants
  • Prepares state sales tax returns for various County operations;
  • Monitors recurring receipts for various governments to ensure timely recognition of revenue
  • Performs ancillary tasks as assigned by managers as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field and two (2) years' experience in fixed asset control or inventory control; or equivalent combination of education and experience in accounting area
  • Advanced working knowledge of desktop application skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Excel; thorough knowledge of accepted accounting practices and procedures
  • Skill in problem solving, decision making, and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to operate personal computer peripherals, and basic office equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Constantly working in indoor conditions
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Occasionally moves about the office
  • Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
