PAY GRADE: GFLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptPOSITION OBJECTIVE:This is the entry level into the facilities services series. Incumbents perform basic custodial, building or grounds maintenance, or general laborer work. Duties might include: picking up trash and debris, mowing the grass; performing building maintenance such as changing light bulbs; vacuuming; cleaning and maintaining restrooms; and, performing general laborer type work such as moving furniture and room set-up. Incumbents may also operate light equipment such as vehicles, tractors, and mowers.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Performs manual labor activities, which includes: emptying trash cans; gathering materials and equipment; placing materials and/or equipment in proper locations; sweeping; setting up furniture and/or equipment; digging; cleaning; moving furnishings; painting; and/or, performing other related tasks.
Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance, inquiries, and/or other related requests; and responds to emergency situations as required to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Maintains facilities, vehicles, and/or equipment utilized in daily activities; troubleshoots, maintains and performs simple repairs and preventive maintenance to equipment; monitors inventory of supplies.
Notifies appropriate individuals of required facility and/or equipment repairs.
Under direction, performs routine, minor repairs.
Assists in performing routine grounds maintenance activities, including picking up trash, sweeping walkways, and weeding planter areas.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
