With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, CMTNCC Campus, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.As the Building/Grounds Specialist II/Supervisor, working under general supervision of the Director of Environmental Services, this position is responsible for supervision of the overall.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Orients, teaches and instructs new employees on proper cleaning and sanitation techniques.
  • Inspects all areas daily to ensure that safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards are met and to ensure that environment is maintained according to facility requirements.
  • Assists in coordinating and supervising Custodial, Housekeeping and Laundry Services in the facility.
  • Monitors time and attendance of assigned employees.
  • Evaluates job performance of assigned employees.
  • Ensures housekeeping laundry distribution area is clean and neat at all times. Dust mopping and/or wet mopping as needed and scheduled.
  • Returns laundry equipment and cards to designated storage location, keeping all lanes of operation open and free from clutter.
  • Receives, sorts and inspects all clean laundered articles delivered by contracted vendor for proper storage.
  • Plans and executes special cleaning project as needed.
  • Evaluates and resolves personnel and disciplinary problems/concerns among assigned staff.
State Requirements: Experience in custodial, housekeeping or pest control work that is directly related to the area of employment.Agency Requirements: A high school graduate with a minimum of two (2) years work experience.Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.The selected candidate must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and may be required to lift more during emergencies. Must also have the ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb at least two or three flights of stairs, tolerate noise level and circulate in resident's areas for long periods.
