- Overseeing all aspects of Athletic Training, including, but not limited to: insurance coverage for all student-athletes, development and implementation of all Athletic Training-related matters, pursuant to NATA and NCAA guidelines, staffing and budget;
- Providing vision, leadership and guidance necessary for a comprehensive, positive, safe and healthy athletic training environment;
- Working closely with Strength and Conditioning to facilitate the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention and rehabilitation of injuries of, along with the implementation of return-to-play protocols for, student-athletes;
- Consulting regularly with the sport coaches, strength and conditioning and other staff to assure the health and well-being of the student-athletes;
- Serving as a referral, when necessary, for all things student-athlete health-related (mental, physical);
- Providing direct service/coverage for specific sports; and
- Providing oversight of Xavier University’s Cintas Center and Heidt Family Champions Center athletic training facilities
- Master's Degree in Athletic Training or Related Field;
- At least five (5) years of athletic training experience in intercollegiate athletics;
- Certified and licensed to practice in Ohio or eligible for certification/licensure in Ohio;
- Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), planning, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, parents, faculty, staff.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills in dealing sensitively with a wide variety of constituents, including health care professionals who provide services to Xavier student-athletes;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience with electronic medical records and relevant technology;
- Knowledge of NCAA policies that impact athletic training (i.e. concussion protocol); and
- Full working knowledge of, and the ability to apply, HIPAA and FERPA
- Experience with Division I Athletics;
- Experience with the drafting, application, review and modification of policies and procedures; and
- Experience with supervision of staff
