Bethany is at the forefront of creating and implementing solutions to meet the growing needs of vulnerable children and families in the U.S. and around the world.The Refugee Foster Care (RFC) Training and Retention Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing learning opportunities to foster parents in the program to build cultural understanding of the youth served as well as the unique needs of refugee and unaccompanied minors. This individual will also be responsible for coordinating mentoring relationships between foster parents. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, plan, organize and facilitate learning opportunities for foster parents in compliance with all state and federal regulations;
  • Ensure foster parent training incorporates the unique cultural needs of refugee youth and elements of caring for youth with trauma;
  • Monitor supportive peer relationships and Foster Parent Community Groups to maintain the Foster Parent mentoring practice;
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness;
  • Effectively maintain the web-based learning platform;
  • Monitor and record the trainings completed by each participating family to ensure their individual needs are meet and to maintain program guidelines;
  • Develop and implement an annual schedule with monthly learning opportunities for foster parents;
  • Facilitate learning solutions using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, to include but not limited to role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures;
  • Assess training needs by utilizing satisfaction surveys, federal guidelines, focus groups, and case manager and refugee foster parent consultations;
  • Obtain, organize, and develop training procedure manuals, guides and course materials, such as handouts or visual materials; Maintain an educational library to meet the unique training needs of refugee foster parents;
  • Oversee and maintain the Refugee Foster Parent Facebook page, while communicating important program updates and training opportunities on the social media platform;
  • Oversee the Foster Parent Advisory Board;
  • Work cooperatively and supportively with licensors, caseworkers, and supervisors to enhance foster home recruitment efforts and overall program effectiveness;
  • Organize special events for retention and recognition purposes;
  • Ensure that foster parent training meets state licensing regulations and federal recommendations
  • Stay up-to-date on developments in refugee foster care by attending conferences, journal readings, books, and/or magazine articles;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's level degree in Human Services, or equivalent field of study from an accredited college;
  • Prior work experience developing and facilitating adult learning through formal training;
  • Prior work experience facilitating collaborative learning sessions, preferred;
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, strongly preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Sensitivity in communicating and developing relationships cross culturally;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with high initiative;
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service;
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
  • Must be willing and able to work outside of normal business hours to include some evenings and weekends, as necessary;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
