MOGAS Industries, Inc., the leading manufacturer of severe service ball valves for extreme industrial applications is seeking a qualified Sourcing and Procurement Manager for our North Houston location. This candidate purpose will be establishing and executing a world class supply chain strategy that meets the quality, cost and delivery expectations of the company’s manufacturing objectives. Lead a team of purchasing agents and sourcing specialists to maintain material flow and develop strong supplier relationships.Responsibilities and Essential Requirements:
  • Manage all purchasing activities in support of manufacturing schedules for direct material, indirect material and subcontract services.
  • Lead team of buyers to ensure purchasing activities are completed timely and effectively.
  • Manage and monitor material costs to ensure business objectives are met related to cost targets, cost reduction initiatives, and PPV control.
  • Liaise between planning, engineering and logistics team to ensure effective flow of information and collaboration on obstacles.
  • Monitor MRP output to identify risks, gaps and challenges and work with necessary functions to resolve.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and exception messages to ensure material is supporting production schedules. Identify delivery risk and work with necessary team members to resolve.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to ensure efficient and effective processing in all related tasks.
  • Support team of buyers as it relates to challenging buying tasks, such as material availability, to find a solution that meets requirements and delivery timeline.
Develop and oversee a robust supplier network to meet business objectives related to cost targets, lead time reduction and supplier diversification.
  • Develop tools and KPIs to monitor supplier performance related to delivery and quality.
  • Engage suppliers in RCA and CAR efforts related to defects and nonconformances, including negotiations for cost recovery.
  • Provide input into quoting process for high impact orders to establish cost and sourcing strategy to optimize order win rate.
  • Identify gaps in supplier network and identify, onboard and support new suppliers.
  • Support Quality initiatives related to supplier audits, compliance to appropriate regulations, and necessary onboarding requirements.
  • Prepare for and lead the S&OP section related to sourcing and procurement to senior leadership.
Maintain system integrity for all purchasing parameters and develop or enhance standard work instructions to drive consistency and best practices.
  • Analyze procurement trends to review component purchase lot sizes, lead times, etc. and maintain system parameters accordingly.
  • Identify gaps in standard work instructions and develop procedures to increase throughput and efficiency through department. Train and enforce with all team members.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the MOGAS approved vendor list.
  • Develop and mentor team members to cross train and build resilience within the department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises a team of direct and indirect buyers as well as a team of sourcing specialists located internationally.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Additional responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Travel:
  • This role will require some travel throughout the year to meet with direct reports as well as to visit suppliers.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Required Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years purchasing and sourcing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct managerial experience.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proactive and driven to see tasks to completion.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, tracking, and adjusting projects with multiple phases in coordination with all departments.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Build safety awareness into entire supply chain.
  • Function well within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • High level of customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to analyze and decipher technical content quickly.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including PowerBI.
  • Experience with purchasing tasks within an MRP system.
  • Experience with third party software, such as SourceDay, preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
  • APICS CPIM preferred.
