Position Summary:
Certified special education teachers will facilitate online learning for students eligible for special education services in grades Pre-K through 12th grade. All applicants must be proficient in the use of instructional/communication technology and have experience using digital learning platforms, learning management systems and online curriculum delivery and development. This position is expected to maintain regular communication and collaborate with district staff, parents and students through the use of multiple communication channels including telephone, email, and digital platforms; assist parents/ guardians who assume the role of learning coaches for their children; and monitor student progress/ completion of online assignments and the provision of special education services.Benefits of the Position

Required Qualifications:
- PA Pre-K through 12 Special Education Certification
- Demonstrable proficiency in computer skills including the ability to work with multiple types of devices, peripheral accessories and software programs. Successful candidate will be evaluated through a live assessment to ensure proficiency as a professional requirement of the position.Desired Qualifications:
- Online teaching experience
- 3-5 years field experience teaching students with special needsEssential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and foster relationships with students and parents, and facilitate a connection between cyber families and the school community
- Design lesson plans, individualized educational plans, varying assessments and assignments, and follow all curriculum requirements for each student using a virtual environment
- Support the instructional program with a combination of asynchronous and synchronous instruction while maintaining accommodations and specially designed instruction for students who have disabilities
- Create instructional resources to meet the varying needs of students
- Review curriculum and develop/ adapt instructional approaches for lessons to increase student understanding/ differentiate for student needs; working directly with parents and students and district staff
- Complete all necessary student grading and attendance tracking, required special education documentation, maintain progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner
- Communicate with parents, students, teachers, guidance counselors and administrators on a regular basis to develop and update schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies and monitor completion of assignments
- Collaborate with special education related service personnel and district staff to create and contribute to the delivery and implementation of a student's IEP 04 504 Service AgreementsPerformance Factors/Job Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to explain complex instructions in an easily understandable fashion.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact operations within the IU and educational programming for students in need of special education services and supports.
- Must be flexible and able to tolerate many situations and personalities.
- Ability to create and manage appropriate computer applications necessary for program management.
- Must be able to organize and maintain programmatic files.
- Must follow all appropriate telework/virtual teaching guidelines and procedures as identified.Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. Due to travel outside of the home office, candidates are required to have a vehicle and valid driver's license to attend job related duties, meetings, seminars, and trainings.Physical Demands: (% of time)
