The Middle School Assistant Principal plays a key role in supporting the Principal in
the overall administration, leadership, and management of the middle school. This
position is responsible for assisting in creating a positive and inclusive learning
environment, fostering academic excellence, promoting student success, and ensuring
the safety and well-being of students and staff.GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Support:
  • Assist and support the Principal in day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and facility management.
  • Coordinate and oversee various school activities, events, and programs.
School Climate & Culture:
  • Promote a positive school climate through proactive strategies and restorative practices.
  • Work with teachers, counselors, and other staff members to address behavioral issues and support students in developing positive behaviors.
  • Implement and enforce school policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline.
Student Support Services:
  • Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and social workers to address the social, emotional, and academic needs of students.
  • Provide leadership for special education and intervention programs, including facilitating PPTs and 504 meetings.
Curriculum Development and Instructional Leadership:
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional coaches to develop and implement effective instructional programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide instructional leadership and support to teachers, including facilitating professional learning opportunities.
Teacher Evaluation and Support:
  • Participate in the evaluation of teachers, providing constructive feedback and support for professional growth and development.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing strategies to improve teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
Parent and Community Relations:
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, school events, and academic programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to support the school's mission and goals.
Safety and Emergency Management:
  • Develop and implement procedures and protocols to ensure the safety and security of students and staff during emergencies and crisis situations.
  • Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare students and staff for emergency situations.
Assessment and Data Analysis:
  • Coordinate testing and assessment systems for monitoring student progress.
  • Analyze student achievement data, attendance records, and other relevant metrics to assess school performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to school leadership, faculty, and stakeholders.
Professional Development and Leadership:
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay current with best practices, research, and trends in education.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree or higher in education or related field.
  • Valid administrator certification or license (CT 092 certification required).
  • Previous experience in educational leadership or administration, preferably in a middle school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of educational trends, research-based practices, and curriculum development.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and community members.
