ResponsibilitiesJob Description Summary Reports directly to Engineering Manager. This role would lead the diagnosis of complex problems in manufacturing equipment and lead the development and implementation of solutions. As an engineering resource, supports production and the maintenance group in correcting equipment breakdowns and completing preventive maintenance (PM) activity as required. Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements. Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks. This role is expected to lead highly complex activities in both mechanical and controls activities. Provides leadership in a team environment. Coaches and guides Machine Operators and fellow associates on basic troubleshooting. Become a maker of possible with us.Job ResponsibilitiesLeads the diagnosis of complex problems in manufacturing equipment and own the development and implementation of solutionsSupports the production and maintenance group in correcting equipment breakdowns and completing preventive maintenance (PM) activity as required.Creates engineering drawings for new or replacement components to manufacturing equipment. Generates engineering and manufacturing process documents. Checks engineering drawings, evaluating correctness of information, accuracy and logic.Troubleshoots and updates PLC software as neededAssists in writing operating procedures and validation procedures for manufacturing equipmentAssists in performing validations for manufacturing equipment including generating and recording engineering data and resultsParticipates in the design and installation of new manufacturing equipment.Supports the manufacturing team in solving complex problems, implementing engineering upgrades and installations for manufacturing and process control equipmentAssembles and installs electrical control hardware and wiring. Able to install electrical conduits and raceways for manufacturing equipment and control hardwareAssists with integration of complex engineering solutions using software, mechanical and electrical components.Uses a wide variety of electrical and mechanical test and fabrication equipment in the execution of assigned tasks.Gathers, correlates and evaluates test data; generates recommendations used for engineering and review.Assists with documentation and drawing updates using AutoCad and other CAD software as required.Prioritizes daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals.Consistent presence in production departments. Monitors the production lines and proactively evaluates equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement.Works with minimum supervision.Provides leadership in a team environment. Coaches and guides Machine Operators and fellow associates on basic troubleshooting.Works with manager or supervisor on leading projects, operations planning and other technician initiatives.Works with external contractors and vendor as neededDemonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and proceduresMust follow all BD safety policies and proceduresMust be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirementsPerforms other duties as assigned.3rd Shift 10PM - 6AMEducation and/ or Experience Required:Associate’s technical degree or formal relevant technician certificate and 4 years of experience in relevant fieldORHigh School Diploma/GED & Certificate and 6 years of experience in relevant fieldRelevant Fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding RepairerTime management skills to ensure all tasks are completed without delayProject Management SkillsApplies technical knowledge to tackle unique problems on manufacturing and process control equipment. Familiarity with troubleshooting and programming techniques for PLCS, MMI’s, electromechanical sensors and controllers is required.Experience with troubleshooting and performing programming changes to ladder logic and manufacturing software including ControlLogix, Studio5000, RSLogix, Panel Builder, and other PLC and MMI software as required.Familiar with the programming of servo-driven systems.Capable of downloading and uploading programs and parameters with laptop software as well as teach pendants.Must be proficient in the use of diagnostic instruments including oscilloscopes, DMMs and logic analyzers.Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teamsMechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot and repair sophisticated equipment and machinery.Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematicsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects or assignments.Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments crucial.Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately sophisticated work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.Must be knowledgeable in the following areasUse of a PC including MS Excel & MS Word.Highly proficient and demonstrate mechanical proficiencyHighly proficient and demonstrate electrical proficiencyHighly proficient and demonstrate hydraulics, pneumatics proficiencyAbility to use multimeterSensor technologyElectrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC.Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.)Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.Basic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic)Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt and chain drives)Basic machiningApplicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US.
