In every aspect of our work, we are committed to helping whānau be the best they can be.He kōrero mō te tūranga | The RoleWe are on the lookout for a passionate Support Worker - Navigator to join our team and provide dedicated support to our tangata Whaiora. This is a fantastic opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives of people in the community to help them to reconnect, learn, grow, and live as independently as possible. We welcome applicants who have a passion to see others succeed while you also work on your own development.We have 3 permanent full-time positions, working between 8.00am - 8.00pm, Monday - Sunday. The role will be based in Tawa.Your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • You'll provide wrap-around support to Whaiora in a hand-on capacity that sees you out in the community supporting people in real time to engage or re-engage them with their community and natural supports.
  • The key focus of this role will have you giving Whaiora the tools and the confidence to support themselves - it's all about supporting them through a process not doing it for them.
  • A typical day will see you meeting with Whaiora in the community (or in their home) to go through a personalised plan, identify areas for referrals, and help set goals that will make a real difference to their lives such as housing, financial, education, or health etc.
  • You'll coordinate with individuals, families, and significant others, as well as external and internal services to provide wrap-around support, help them to achieve their goals, and provide support and advocacy during meetings.
  • You'll work to identify previous barriers that have prevented them accessing support in the past and help them to create systems to prevent this from happening again.
He kōrero mōu | About YouWe are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident, and compassionate to work in our service. You'll use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to motivate and encourage Whaiora realise their potential. You'll have the ability to easily build professional relationships, while maintaining strong professional boundaries.To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have the following:
  • A Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Mental Health and Addiction or be working towards one.
  • Experience of one-to-one support within the community is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, a 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery values.
  • Eligiblity to work in New Zealand.
  • A current full driver's licence.
