Our Space Systems business unit within Collins provides life support and thermal management systems including comprehensive integrated Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) solutions for NASA, government, and commercial customers. Our products and integrated mission systems offerings enable Low Earth Orbit (LEO), lunar, exploratory, and deep space platforms across a wide range of programs including NASA’s Artemis Program which will establish a sustainable presence on the Moon to prepare for missions to Mars.Collins Aerospace is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as a Project Engineer in the Space Station / Depot Repair - MRO organization managing hardware in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) value stream. The candidate should have the ability to lead Engineering Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) for design and development activities, support verification planning and closeout activities, and support hardware at our suppliers and on the assembly floor. Engineering support of hardware includes dispositioning non-conforming material in SAP, responding to Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), leading failure investigations to determine root cause and corrective action, managing Engineering Changes, and providing Engineering support during customer and supplier meetings. This position will take direction from the respective Depot Repair/MRO Chief Engineer(s) and the respective Value Stream Leader (VSL) to support schedule, budget and deliverables and will require the candidate to be on-site.What You Will Do:

Work autonomously with limited oversight from manager
Work collaboratively with the Program Chief, other Engineering disciplines, Value Stream Lead (VSL), Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to meet schedule, cost, and technical requirements
Coordinate and lead multi-discipline technical teams
Facilitate Project Engineering tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
Drive world class Project Engineering process using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management.
Work with other disciplines to respond to SRIs
Determine disposition and rationale for Quality Notifications (QNs) in SAP
Initiate Engineering Changes in Windchill and drive to closure
Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
Track team’s integrated execution performance to plan
Analyze, identify, and address execution problems, recommend and implement resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects
Forecast project revenues, monitor costs, and re-estimate project costs monthly to maximize project profitability and ensure business objectives are met (CAM experience)
Maintain and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met
Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency.

This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as a cross-functional team leader. Direct communication with customers, primarily NASA and Boeing, will be required at times. You will manage projects that produce components which meet stringent operating requirements and provide extraordinarily high reliability.Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen

Qualifications We Prefer:

BA/BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree
MA/MS in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or MBA degree
Project management skills
Experience in the design, development, and qualification of space-qualified ECLSS, thermal management, or similarly complex systems
Willingness to learn and develop a detailed understanding of the life support components and processes that enable human survival and performance in space
Exceptional organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task and balance the priority of daily issues with longer term project requirements
Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering and operations staff
The ability to function as a team member, working professionally and respectfully with a diverse group of contributors
Natural presence and poise when presenting to internal and external customers including NASA Engineering and Management Teams
Excellent attention to detail
The highest level of integrity
Experience with high reliability, safety critical and fault tolerant component and subsystem testing and qualification
Ability to bring team members together and work problems to resolution
An analytical mind to conduct failure evaluations, assess operational risks and provide rationale for corrective actions and continued mission operations
Ability to conduct trade-studies, develop product requirements, cost estimates and proposals
Strong computer skills, MS Office/Project, SAP, Windchill
Experience supporting operational space flight hardware is highly desirable
