Resource Teacher Duties * Delivering high quality instruction through project-based learning methods.
- Attending professional development and training related to STEAM, highly capable, and intervention programs and methodologies to stay abreast of current research.
- Employing a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
- Using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Working directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives and curriculum.
- Organizing, developing, and coordinating special STEAM events/activities.
- Coaching teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.
- Designing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that are differentiated to support the advanced learning needs of gifted students.
- Providing intervention and support for students who require additional academic assistance, including targeted instruction and remediation.
- Teaching fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and kicking, using a variety of instructional methods and equipment.
- Introducing students to a range of individual and team sports, games, and recreational activities, adapting instruction to accommodate diverse skill levels and abilities.
- Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and enjoyment of physical activity.
- Incorporating principles of fitness, nutrition, and wellness education into physical education lessons to promote overall health and well-being.
- Assessing student progress through observation, skill demonstrations, and formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement in physical education activities.
- Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, participation, and achievement in physical education classes.
- Ensuring the safety and supervision of students during physical education activities, adhering to established school and district policies and procedures.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington State Teaching License, Emergency Substitute or Conditional Teaching license.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and State Instructional Standards.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through WSP and FBI.
