- Reports to: DBS Senior Legal Counsel
- Operating within a dynamic, fast-paced environment and must confidently and effectively engage with EM Legal teams and other stakeholders.
- Providing contract management services to the EMs will be a key responsibility of the Legal Counsel.
- Overseeing and offering guidance, and support to team members within DBSCS.
- Preparing and negotiating contracts for products and services in compliance with EM policies, including Contract Management and Procurement policies.
- Advocating for the use of BAT's Contract Management system during the drafting and finalization of contracts.
- Supporting End Markets in ensuring accurate corporate governance by delivering dedicated compliance-related services as required.
- Assisting EM compliance teams in managing corporate policies and conducting related administrative tasks.
- Completing various compliance-related activities, such as conducting risk assessments, disseminating information to relevant stakeholders, and implementing tasks on BAT's compliance systems.
- Actively contributing to corporate strategies within DBSCS areas as a senior member of the DBS Legal team.
- Qualified Pakistani lawyer (admitted to the Pakistani Bar) or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience, acquired at an international or reputable local law firm, along with in-house counsel experience for a major multinational corporation. Additional legal qualifications or experience in dealing with jurisdictions would be advantageous.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Proficient in legal drafting with expertise in commercial, corporate, and technology laws and practices, as well as other legal matters.
- Familiarity with product liability, competition, and intellectual property law would be beneficial.
- Capable of adapting contract templates as necessary and mitigating key risks using legal drafting knowledge.
- Ability to convey legal concepts to business colleagues in clear and understandable terms.
- Experience in governance, risk, and compliance would be advantageous.
- Strong negotiation and project management skills, with the capacity to plan, anticipate, and run priorities efficiently to optimize output and improve commercial solutions' efficiency.
- Demonstrates a hands-on, adaptable, and flexible approach, along with sound commercial judgment, enabling work under pressure and handling varied demands.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a high level of emotional intelligence, facilitating the development of positive relationships with peers and senior stakeholders.
- Keeps abreast of changes in law and corporate governance best practices globally to ensure that transactional structures, documentation, policies, and contract management processes remain current and commercially viable.
- Knowledge and experience in privacy and data protection laws would be advantageous.
