Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Medical Director of Outpatient Psychiatry. We are looking for a candidate with at least a couple of years of experience in outpatient psychiatry, with Community Mental Health (CMH) experience being a significant advantage.
  • Board certification in psychiatry, whether in child or adult psychiatry, is preferred, although other qualifications will be considered.
  • This role offers a typical outpatient schedule from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional late nights until 7:00 pm if needed.
  • Hybrid work arrangements are negotiable, with most of our current physicians working at least two days virtually.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the outpatient psychiatry team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.
  • Balancing patient care responsibilities with leadership duties, with the option for hybrid work arrangements.
  • Collaborate with case managers and therapists assigned to each case to provide comprehensive, integrated care to patients.
  • Manageable caseloads with one-hour initial evaluations and 30-minute follow-up appointments.
  • Stay abreast of best practices in the field of psychiatry and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of psychiatric services within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and collaboration among staff members.
  • Act as a liaison between the outpatient psychiatry department and other healthcare providers within the health care system.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school and board certification in psychiatry (preferred).
  • At least a couple of years of experience in outpatient psychiatry, with CMH experience being highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical skills and expertise in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care and promoting whole-person health.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Michigan.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications.
