Design experiments to study the chemical and physical principles of living things and biological processes. Develop metabolically engineered organisms for use in novel bio-based chemical processes. May perform additional duties that are similar and consistent with stated position requirements.Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Biochemistry or closely related field plus 3 years of experience. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
  • Industrial metabolic engineering to develop commercial cell factories
  • Molecular biology and microbiology techniques for plasmid and strain construction
  • Development and application of expression optimization approaches including CRISPR to generate industrially relevant engineered strains
  • Microbial physiology and small-scale fermentation of engineered strains
  • Orchestrating multi-disciplinary scientific activities for characterizing microbial physiology and small-scale fermentation of engineered strains
  • Applying synthetic biology techniques for elucidating and reconstructing complex biosynthetic pathways in microorganisms
  • Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, omics-driven hypothesis generation, and novel target identification for Rational Strain Design and Engineering
