The intern will work for 10 weeks on a rotational assignment, partnering with five groups on their events and projects.Talent AcquisitionUnder the Talent Acquisition team, you’ll shadow our recruiters to study the hiring process from resume review to phone screens to offer and dismissal calls. You’ll also participate in new employee orientation (NEO) activities and support crucial aspects of the onboarding process.People MobilityAs an intern with the People Mobility team, you'll dive into the world of supporting employee mobility at NREL. You'll gain firsthand experience in relocation, detail assignments, research exchange programs, and US immigration services.Projects will revolve around supporting NREL's foreign national employees, creating internal resources to educate staff about People Mobility programs, and getting a glimpse into the global mobility strategies that shape NREL's workforce.HR Business PartnershipAn HR Business Partner (HRBP) is the HR point of contact for all managers within each of our research directorates. Under your HRBP mentor, you may complete projects such as analyzing and presenting data collected during exit interviews, supporting manager competency-building, and coordinating professional development opportunities for managers and employees.HR Legislation & PolicyAs an intern in the HR Compliance, you'll participate in understanding laws and their impact on policy and practices at NREL. You'll learn more about workplace investigations, reasonable accommodations, and the compliance interplay with HR and business functions.You'll participate in a team project to review updates to employment legislation, identify policy changes and updates, and jointly present the findings to HR staff.Global Accessibility & BelongingThe mentors on this team need your help to compile upcoming and newly passed Colorado laws and study their potential impact on NREL’s HR practices. Based on your findings, you and your mentors will recommend updates to NREL policy to comply with new legislation. You may be invited to share these recommendations in a presentation to the HR team at the end of the summer.Projects can be adjusted to a limited degree depending on the intern’s background and interests. The intern is expected to work for 40 hours per week for 10 weeks at the South Table Mountain campus in Golden, Colorado. Occasional remote work may be possible..Basic Qualifications Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.Please Note:

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Interest in human resources as demonstrated through coursework or previous work experience, including previous internships.
  • Experience in communicating verbally and in writing for different audiences.
  • Experience working independently (with consistent feedback) on research projects.
  • Basic understanding of workplace discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a scientific environment, e.g., providing program support for a scientific department or club.
  • Experience in event coordination.
