IntroductionAre you interested in being part of a multidisciplinary team that provide assessments, crisis intervention and referrals to adults and youth seeking mental health or substance abuse services?Prince William County Community Services is looking for a committed mental health professional to provide mental health/substance abuse assessments within the ACESS team. The ACCESS team is the point of service entry for the Community Services that has adopted the Same Day Access Model (SDA). We are seeking an individual interested in being part of a team and organization whose mission is a commitment to improving the quality of life for adults and families in the Prince William County community. We are seeking qualified applicants to fill our full-time ACCESS Therapist II (Clinical Services Case Worker) position. Successful candidate will have experience providing services to adults and youth diagnosed with a mental illness, substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders, and experience formulating initial diagnosis for SMI clients, and clients with substances use disorders.This position qualifies for a hiring bonus of $5,000. This bonus will be paid in two equal installments as funds permit. The first installment of $2,500 is payable upon the County's first regular pay date following your position start and the final $2,500 installment will be payable on the pay date following the completion of probation.About This Role:
You will complete comprehensive assessments and initial diagnosis, screenings to include Columbia Suicide screening tool, SMI screenings, ASAM and trauma screenings. You will provide crisis intervention for clients including developing and implementing risk management plans for adults and youth with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. You will perform complex evaluations and make independent diagnoses using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. You will consult with other Community Services programs and community agencies to facilitate referrals and service provision for clients requiring multiple services.Preferences:A successful candidate will have:
  • Master's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related behavioral science field.
  • Currently possess LPC, or LCSW or ability to obtain LPC or LCSW license in the Commonwealth of Virginia within two years of hire.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the delivery of human services to adults and youth in a Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Emergency Services outpatient program.
  • Experience conducting comprehensive assessments, and mental health/substance abuse screenings to include the Columbia-Suicide Severity screening tool, ASAM, SUD screening tools and make initial diagnosis.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external partners and across systems.
  • Experience evaluating risk and implementing crisis management plans.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
Special Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license;
  • Must pass DMV record check;
  • Must pass TB test;
  • Offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate passing a fingerprinted-based national criminal history record check.
  • Child Protective Services Requirements: Effective 1999, mandated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services 12VA35-105-400 rules and Regulations for Licensing Providers by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services related to Criminal Registry Checks, a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglect maintained by the Department of Social Services.
