Job Description:IU Health Paoli's Emergency Room is a full-service emergency department serving the Paoli community. Our team consists of board-certified Emergency Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, highly trained and certified emergency nurses, Paramedics and Technicians. We are equipped and ready to care for all medical and traumatic emergencies for all age groups.This unit provides 24-hour provision of patient care services to populations ranging from infant to elderly. The Emergency Department is problem focused, addressing the most urgent and relevant clinical needs of patients during their emergency visit. The ED averages 15,600 patient visits per year and is staffed by IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Emergency Medicine providers. The clinician is exposed to a breadth of clinical work not experienced in most other units. Technology includes electronic medical records, including physician order entry. Nurses work with independent care providers including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and board-certified emergency physicians.The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
