The Consultant Psychiatrist/ Senior Medical Officer (Adult Psychiatry) (as designated by Queensland Health) is responsible for providing high quality Psychiatry management and consumer care across the Hospital and Health Service.The Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult Psychiatry) provides leadership in clinical services of Psychiatry that is innovative, encourages participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving demonstrable improvement in patient outcomes. The role will work in collaboration with the other clinicians and leaders to provide multidisciplinary consideration of needs.The Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult Psychiatry) will need to be consumer and carer focused and will have sophisticated skills when working with families and other carers. The Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult Psychiatry) will provide support and supervision for training registrars within the department.The Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult Psychiatry) reports to the Clinical Director Mental Health and Specialised Services.On offer:
  • Salary comprising of between $90.45 - $114.69 p.h. (p/t) or $7,236.70 - $9,175.30 p.f. (f/t)

The Hospital:The University Hospital saw its first patients on 21 March 2017 and was officially opened on 19 April 2017 by the Queensland Premier and Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services.The new public hospital will revolutionise healthcare in the region, offering a range of free public healthcare services supported by highly trained and specialised staff.The hospital is supported by highly trained and specialised staff, who will safely care for patients with complex or life-threatening conditions. This means about 10,000 patients each year will not have to travel for complex treatment.The hospital opened with about 450 beds in April 2017, with ability to grow to more than 738 bed by 2022.Services:
