Come join our team!Job Description:The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E Technician will also perform mechanical maintenance and support the operation of the power plant by qualifying as Plant Operator. The IC&E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.Duties:
  • Inspect, adjust and control all power production auxiliary and facility equipment to assure safe, legal, continuous, and efficient operation.
  • Maintain optimum level of operation and energy production.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately using both oral and written methods of communication.
  • Make repairs, where qualified and assist others making repairs to all equipment.
  • Direct and train others in the inspection, repair and operation of the Energy Center.
  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned or required.
  • Take actions necessary to prevent any environmental excursions.
  • Continually checks all phases of the operation for difficulties or irregularities, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Maintains journals, logs, maintenance and equipment records and various reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Operations Manager. Assignments may include maintenance at other Indeck facilities.
Physical Environment:
  • Job involves standing, walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working from elevations, heavy lifting, and the use of tools.
  • Work with high pressure and hot steam and water lines, chemicals and chemical equipment.
  • Work in cramped or awkward positions at times. May be required to work outside in inclement weather conditions. Exposed to noise and a hot work environment. Work in confined space when necessary.
  • Work is performed normally on dayshift. Shift may be changed on occasion for operations coverage. Availability for overtime work assignments is required.
  • Job requires constant attentiveness and awareness. Extreme pressure may exist in the event of an equipment failure.
  • The use of respirators and other safety equipment is required.
Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school and graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program (or applicable military background).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Two years’ work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry; experience in a power plant environment preferred to include the following:
  • Distributive Control System (DCS) troubleshooting, maintenance and upkeep (Foxboro and GE MKV systems).
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system (Allen Bradley).
  • Thorough knowledge, skill and hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience relating to:
  • Instrumentation and control systems used in modern power stations, including burner management, combustion control, boiler controls, turbine controls and machine condition monitoring.
  • Electrical systems used in modern power stations, including 13.8 KV switchgear and motors, 4160-volt switchgear and motors, 480-volt motors and control centers, transformers, batteries, inverters and chargers, main generator and excitation equipment.
  • Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique I&E problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use most common computer programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints.
Nature of Work:
  • Duration: Full Time, Regular.
  • Normal Work Days: Varies.
  • Normal Work Shifts: Dayshift.
  • Overtime work might be required.
  • Salary Range: $32 - $46 per hour. Depending on experience, skill level & education.
  • Education: Instrumentation/Controls schooling or equivalent military training.
  • Experience: Minimum two years, power plant experience preferred.
  • License: Applicants should have following driver's license: Class D/Regular.
