- Managing the Criminal Law Court calendar.
- Adjourn Court dates that propose a scheduling problem.
- Answer phones, direct calls, and take messages.
- Prepare notices for clients regarding new Court dates.
- Set up new client files and work as the liaison between Intake and Litigation.
- Call Courts to obtain case information.
- Request and obtain discovery.
- Schedule phone and office appointments for clients with their attorney.
- E-File and File motions in District Court and Circuit Court.
- Prepare and file driver's license Hardship Appeals in Circuit Court.
- Refer clients to obtain Substance Use Assessments.
- Send client referrals for drug testing, educational programs, and interlock.
- DAAD (driver assessment and appeal division) file set up.
- DAAD interlock violation hearing requests.
- File requests for implied consent hearings with SOS.
- Draft and file various motions pertaining to withdrawal of counsel, travel, and probation needs.
- Maintain case files in digital document management software.
- Scan in all client documents.
- Must have 3-5 years minimum of legal secretary experience within a Criminal Law Defense environment.
- Must be computer literate and familiar with all Microsoft Office products.
- Must be proficient in typing. Minimum 65 wpm.
- Must be knowledgeable of all Maryland Courts & have prior E-Filing and Filing experience.
- Must be able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have a courteous, professional, and friendly demeanor.
