Working both with internal and external customers. Following one-off testing projects from start to finish. Working with test engineers to bring your work to life. You would participate in team and customer meetings to identify requirements, specification, timelines, and customer expectations.Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support testing group with troubleshooting and customer support
  • Work together with test engineers to diagnose customer or equipment issues
  • Resolve problems with drive systems, inverter CAN database issues, electrical systems, noise and sensor issues, etc.
  • Follow up issues with documentation of the process to support future efforts
  • Work directly with customers as assigned to get through initial start-up of advanced or critical tests
  • Quality assurance of software and new automation platforms
  • Controlled field verification of code to requirements
  • Issue replication and reporting
  • Provide feedback to software group for improved user experience
  • Assist in generating software requirement documents
  • Interface with customer engineering for developing testing applications. Responsibilities include:
  • Creating custom CAN/LIN/FlexRay protocol gateways between UTAC software platform and customer UUTs
  • Create scripts in Vector CAPL or ICS Vehicle spy to simulate vehicle environment required for testing
  • Creating new etherCAT xml’s or drivers for additional equipment to be used with UTAC’s control software
  • Interact with customers for requirement specifications.
  • Create ‘Best method’ procedures for internal and customer use, such as:
  • Profile writing; Vector setup, tips and tricks, default examples, safety setups
  • Standardized start-up, shutdown and soft stop functions and examples
  • Create documents and also lead training sessions and customer workshops
  • Work with new test equipment and create how-to documents for them
  • Liaison between testing group and commissioning/systems/controls groups
  • Attend kick off meetings, and work with PMs on new control and automation IP
  • Train commissioning personnel using developed documentation and on-site support as needed
  • Provide on the job training of systems for customers and end users
QualificationsEducation and Skill Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science is preferred, or equivalent experience is required.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry required.
  • LabVIEW programming experience a plus
  • Vector CANoe/CANape and/or VehicleSpy knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the automotive industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of EV drivetrains and components
  • Fluency in the English language is required.
  • Demonstrated record of driving results.
  • Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required.
  • Manage human and material resources to meet targets.
  • Able to relay technical information in a way your audience understands.
  • Aptitude to develop a High-Performance Team environment.
  • Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.).
  • Flexibility to support service activity both off-site and outside of normal working hours.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
  • Working knowledge of the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EV drivetrains and components
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organization skills.
  • Able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed.
  • Give and accept instructions and tasks in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Physical Demands:
  • Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bed, life, see, speak, hear.
  • May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally)
