- Serve as a thought leader in health science and medical education in support of HGA’s national market strategy
- Lead the programming and planning approach and outcomes for health sciences and medical education environments that enable advancements in pedagogy, skill development and student engagement. Engage clients, users, and other constituents to develop consensus and validate program requirements.
- Develop space programs and physical space type plans at a variety of scales.
- Collaborate with the principals, panners, project managers and designers to develop strategic planning and programming solutions. Lead the documentation of space type systems such as casework, equiment, and the development spaces to create next generation settings for learning and discovery. Manage one or more small to medium-sized planning projects, including negotiating project scope and fees, schedule and quality.
- Participate in marketing efforts through proposal development, interview participation and presentations.
- Develop trusting relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Share your knowledge and expertise with colleagues and mentor the next generation of thought leaders.
- Integrate and advance sustainable design solutions into hte planning and programming process.
- Assist in the development of planning and programming standards to be used by all HGA offices.
- Actively participate in educational, social, and professional events, including involvement in industry associations.
- Participate in a national culture of excellent external and internal client service.
- A minimum of 15 years of programming/planning experience with demonstrable knowledge of higher education clients, curriculum, and space types for academic health science programs, as well as emerging technology and pedagogies.
- Demonstrated creativity, passion and interest in design and planning spaces for academic health sciences and medical education.
- Architectural registration is preferred.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in client relationship management and managing project teams and processes
- Design sensitivity and excellent technical ability
- Knowledge of Revit, SketchUp and other industry accepted software as well as familiarity with project management software
- Knowledge and capability to participate in all project phases including design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Ability to integrate sustainability and LEED guidelines into project work. LEED AP is preferred.
- Strong collaboration and proactive communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to convey ideas clearly at multiple scales. Well organized and ability to effectively meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel to project locations and HGA offices outside of your specific region.
