OverviewUnder the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, and the Director of Nursing, provides leadership and technical expertise, coordinates workflow, coordinates staff scheduling, performs training and quality activities. Performs the essential functions of the Medical Services Nursing role as needed.ResponsibilitiesThe list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification.   • Ensures efficiency and productivity for assigned personnel by coordinating the workflow and people resources to meet deadlines and standards
  • Provides leadership, participates in the hiring process, provides ongoing assessments, and annual performance reviews
  • Participates in validation, projects and monitoring key performance indicators
  • Provides oversight and technical expertise for the department helping to resolve issues associated with protocols, equipment, and standards for compliance as required by organizational policies and accrediting agencies
  • Completes employee departmental orientation, competency testing, compliance training, and other mandatory instruction
  • Ensures that all QC/QA procedures, maintenance schedules, instrument calibration and function checks and other regulatory inspection agency requirements are followed
  • Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated
  • Provides direct patient care and core nursing functions, on call support and other department duties as required
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in OneBlood Medical Services; or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:Current and valid Florida LPN license, current BLS certification, and a valid and clear driver’s license required. Current and valid Florida RN license preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to report to work during a disaster, public health emergency or other catastrophic event
  • Ability to effectively obtain peripheral access, utilize dialysis catheters, fistulas, grafts or power ports
  • Ability to document on hospital records procedural information and patient tolerance
  • Ability to independently utilize therapeutic apheresis equipment to perform procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to read technical procedures and governmental regulations
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in operating office equipment
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation
