o Legal AidWilliamson Health is an equal-opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.POSITION SUMMARYTo provide high quality imaging procedures for our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment under the supervision of a licensed Radiologic technologist RT (R).POSITION REQUIREMENTSFormal Education / Training:Student technologist is currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic technologist program that is affiliated with this facility and the student has the intent to obtain an associate of applied science degree. This student technologist will be scheduled to work alongside a registered Radiologic technologist available for any needed guidance.
Student must provide documentation from their Radiologic program regarding BLS, TB skin tests and influenza vaccinations if available and/or participate in the required programs provided by our facility. Student technologists must have demonstrated competency for radiology exams listed in the "Williamson Health Student Technologist Orientation Checklist". Verification of competency will be required upon Director of Radiology request.Workplace Experience:This position will require critical thinking skills, clear communication, both verbally and in writing and the ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment.
The student technologist must have the ability to make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians.Equipment and Skills Training:Possesses general knowledge x-ray equipment and computers. Ability to obtain histories from patients and provide patient education as well as communicate as needed with radiologists. Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health. In this position the student technologist will also continue to learn and evolve in a working environment.
Student Technologist must understand and demonstrate safe radiation practices in accordance with ALARA at all times.Physical Environment:Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multimodality imaging department.Physical Effort:Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
- Questions female patients (ages 12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly documents information in record.
- Questions all patients who receive intravenous contrast media and documents information regarding allergies and medical history.
- Provides proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to include self. Follows ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISELY.
- Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
- Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
- Checks often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management).
- Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
- Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed.
- Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and observing patient while on radiology table.
- Performs high quality studies consistently.
- Works well with fellow employees to provide the most efficient use of the equipment and ensures that all requests from physicians and patients are completed.
