- Directly support and assist program managers and seasonal educators, primarily on site.
- Deliver sequential, developmentally appropriate lessons for diverse participants, primarily middle school youth.
- Help facilitate the seamless implementation of field activities while supporting the Program Manager and Program Director as needed
- Provide logistical support and complete general administrative duties, as needed.
- Assist with data collection and recordkeeping.
- Help maintain, repair and protect boats, tools and equipment, including waders, nets, buckets, water quality kits and other gear.
- Requires quick setup and breakdown time, including moving heavy equipment (boats, waders, nets, moving cart) and other physically arduous tasks.
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree or anticipated degree program in Education, Marine Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
- Interest in working with diverse students, especially middle school youth from low-income communities
- Knowledge of science education, marine ecology, marine biology, environmental science, or related field, or pursuit of a degree in one or more of these areas of study
- Basic knowledge of marine ecosystems, marine life, data collection, and data analysis
- Lifeguard Certification a plus
- Non-motorized boating experience a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team essential
- Versatility, resourcefulness and creativity required (contagious enthusiasm would be great)
- Willingness to work outdoors from July-August in hot/sometimes uncomfortable weather conditions (manual labor necessary)
