Become part of a great company that is experiencing exciting, rapid growth.Pet Food Express is seeking an experienced, collaborative and highly responsive Transportation and Logistic sManager to join our team, our team over drivers and DOT compliance at our Oakley, CA Distribution Center. The Transportation and Logistics Manager oversees the planning, organization, and implementation of systems designed to receive, store and supply merchandise or products to our stores. The Transportation and Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and directing all logistics functions in the transportation department for inbound and outbound shipments. This role also in charge of the complete delivery fleet’s maintenance program, maintaining required State/Federal regulatory records and personnel files, and must ensure all drivers meet DOT and FMCSA criteria.
This is an on-site position, reporting to the Director of Operations and Transportation. This role interacts directly with various stakeholders at our distribution center and corporate office, as well as with vendors, logistic service providers, logistics asset providers, and with various Pet Food Express functional areas.
If you are an experienced transportation and logistics professional, with skills in creating strong teams and an eye on compliance – this position is for you. Experience as a Class A Truck Driver highly preferred.Responsibilities
  • Manage a high performing and efficient team of Class A Licensed Delivery Drivers, ensuring strong coordination between all work units
  • Lead and demonstrate safe work behaviors and ensure daily communication and interaction with the team
  • Provide leadership and guidance by establishing effective goals, communicating company policy, and providing necessary instruction and feedback
  • Managerial duties include hiring, training, coaching, conducting performance appraisals, performance improvement plans and disciplinary action
  • Plan/schedule and route incoming/outgoing deliveries according to internal/external customer requests
  • Maintain driver calendars to provide effective staff resources for the needs of the business unit
  • Oversee DOT Compliance: follow and enforce all DOT Rules and Regulations and ensure that PFE is DOT and FMCSA compliant
  • Ensure all transportation employees understand and operate within the organizational, operational, safety, and service policies and procedures
  • Schedule/coordinate service on all transportation equipment; Adjust and maintain all transportation service records
  • Perform drivers’ safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers, and prescribe necessary training
  • Verify documentation compliance with all inbound and outbound and shipments
  • Investigate and file documentation for all accidents and incidents, report facility related issues, and lend support as required
  • Ensure accuracy and on time delivery goals are achieved with safety being a priority.
  • Maintain and track driver productivity with various company programs, including Microoft Excel
  • Develop processes that increase supply chain effectiveness and efficiency
  • Audit documentation for discrepancies within PO’s and work with the Warehouse General Manager in resolving discrepancies
  • Foster a strong partnership with merchants, buyers, and store operations to provide excellent supply chain support
  • Verify payroll accuracy while monitoring and controlling overtime
  • Provide communication to stores regarding delivery schedules, addressing issues and providing excellent support to store staff
  • Develop transportation models for various regions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of logistics/transportation related supervisory experience
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and knowledge of MRP and planning software
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and experience managing compliance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in motivating, leading and developing a team through feedback, mentoring, coaching, training, and performance management
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to modify both to audience
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to influence, collaborate with, engage and manage stakeholders throughout various levels of business
  • Ability to understand, learn and teach new processes, systems and technologies quickly, and manage change efficiently, proactively and in a positive manner
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organization; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on demand
  • Experience leading change initiatives and ability to successfully manage and lead others through change, risk and uncertainty
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Strong independent work ethic, demonstrates good judgement and decision quality
  • Open-minded, collaborative and team-oriented attitude
  • Experience as a Class A Licensed Driver preferred. Current DOT card preferred

The salary range for this position is expected to be $100,000/yr - $110,000/yr.
