As a mechanical assembler, you will be responsible for assembling various mechanical components and products according to specifications and instructions. You will also perform quality checks, troubleshoot assembly issues, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.To be successful as a mechanical assembler, you should have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You should also be familiar with using hand tools, power tools, and reading blueprints and diagrams. You must be willing to work a 12-hour manufacturing shift on either our Front End or Back End Days shift pattern.This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide, our expansion site in Siler City, NC. The person in this role will train at our Durham, NC headquarters initially and will move over to the new site once ready, estimated Fall 2024The Day-to-Day:Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and instructions to assemble mechanical products and componentsUse hand tools, power tools, and machines to fasten, connect, and install parts and componentsTest and inspect assembled products and components for quality and functionalityIdentify and report any defects, errors, or malfunctionsMaintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety and hygiene standardsKeep track of inventory and supplies and report any shortages or needsCollaborate and communicate with other assemblers, supervisors, and engineersThis Job is Right for You if You Have:High school diploma or equivalentTechnical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and instructionsExperience working with hand tools, power tools, and machinesBasic math and measurement skillsGood problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamAbility to lift and move heavy objects and stand for long periodsWillingness to learn and follow instructionsWillingness to work a 12-hour manufacturing shift on a compressed day shift schedule.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in mechanical assembly is preferred, but not required.This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.This role requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.
