- Provides geospatial analyses and visualizations for coastal and marine research. Trains and assists program staff in data collection, data processing, analyses, reporting, and presentation of results on projects.
- Develop, improve, and enhance databases key to program area.
- Develop new and enhance existing web applications as necessary for program area.
- Adapt, enhance, develop and/or implement cutting-edge techniques that utilize remote sensing, environmental data and modeling to derive products needed in program area.
- Lead geospatial data management for the Coastal and Marine Geospatial Lab and assist in submitting data products to the GRIIDC data repository.
- Prepare research reports, maps, databases, presentations, and web products as deliverables.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and scientific manuscripts.
- Attend meetings to give presentations and represent the institute as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in, Spatial Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Geology, Statistics, Geography (GIS) or related field.
- Four years of related experience or equivalent combination of post-graduate education and experience.
- Strong working knowledge of concepts and processes of geospatial analysis including creating, manipulating, editing, organizing, maintaining, geo-processing, analyzing, and visualization of spatial data.
- Analytical skills in at least one of the following areas: environmental geospatial modeling/analysis, remote sensing, geospatial statistics.
- Proficient in MS Office and ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with concepts of computer programming and application development.
- Ability to work well on an interdisciplinary research team.
- Master’s degree in, Spatial Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Geology, Statistics, Geography (GIS) or related field.
- Research experience on coastal or marine problems.
- Knowledge of coastal environments.
- Programming experience using MATLAB, Python, or related system.
