  • The Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is the largest pediatric cancer care provider and only pediatric blood and bone marrow transplant program in San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.
  • The Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Unit consists of 38 beds, all in private rooms, and includes 10 BMT beds in positive pressure rooms. The entire unit is HEPA filtered.
  • We partner with the California Proton to offer proton therapy.
  • We have a research alliance with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and UC San Diego, and follow Children's Oncology Group (COG) treatment protocols.
ABOUT OUR TEAM:
  • Our Registered Nurses are certified to administer chemotherapy through APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course
  • Our BMT nurses are educated using the APHON Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Course
  • Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:3, with a maximum of 4 patients per nurse, dependent upon acuity
  • The unit follows a “Primary Team” Nursing model in assigning our patients
POSITION DETAILS:
  • FTE: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Nights, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
  • Shift Info: 12-hour shifts, scheduled 3x per week (36 hours per week)
REGISTERED NURSE JOB SUMMARY:Functions at the Standard Level of nursing practice. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Selects and administers the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing.
