We are growing rapidly and looking for high performers at every level to grow with us.POSITION SUMMARY:The Sports Camp Counselor engages and supervises groups of children ages 5-12 in a variety of sports activities and ensures that they have a positive, enjoyable, and safe experience in group activities. Responsible for carrying out lesson plans designed by the Camp Director / FEC Manager for volleyball. Responsible for maintaining effective discipline and safety procedures during all camp activities.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Supervise and coach group of up to 15 campers each day
  • Maintain updated rosters and camper forms while on duty
  • Organize, instruct, and supervise children while they engage in group and individual sports activities
  • Interact with parents via phone and email in a professional and polite manner
  • Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of campers
  • Assist with early morning drop-off and/or late pick-up for camp
  • Assist other counselors/coaches with all camp activities
  • Set-up, tear-down, and clean up each area
  • Perform other related duties as directed and/or required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in a day camp or sports camp setting working with children
  • Collegiate or high school athletic experience preferred
  • College degree preferred; or currently in school, working towards a degree
  • Varied experience with recreational and athletic activities; knowledge of basic sports skills and instruction and knowledge of sports rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with and communicate well with children ages 5-12 years and their parents as well as other staff
  • Ability to lead and involve campers in various sports activities
  • Ability to provide first aid, risk management, and emotional support and assistance to children ages 5-12
  • Ability to coordinate the use of facilities and activities for a large group of children
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with employees
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, adults, and other staff
  • Licenses and Certifications: CPR and first aid certifications encouraged
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Must be able to walk to identify problems or hazards as well as work with children during recreational activities
